When you encounter any problem in your marriage or have difficulty embracing the married life, you can always look back at your wonderful memories as a couple and perhaps decide to give it another shot. A scrapbook can be a reminder of all the fun times you've had with your husband or wife. It can also be shown to your future children to savor the love you have for each other.
Scrapbook themes for couples
The first few years of the couple's married life should be well-documented, from the wedding photos to their honeymoon trips. This, they say, are among the most memorable, showing how deeply in love you are with each other. The theme of your scrapbook can be about your honeymoon, or your wedding. You can also include different events in your married life, from the birth of your first child to moving into your newly bought house. The theme should focus on your journey as a couple.
Scrapbooking techniques
If you are documenting a trip during your honeymoon, you should gather physical evidence of your travel experience. For instance, save your bus or airline ticket and use it as a design on your scrapbook. Or, make funny notes about dining in a new restaurant or trying a dish for the first time. Choose pictures that help document the events of the trip.
Save a space for your mini-journal or notes if you want the scrapbook to be more personal.
Scrapbooking is more than just a hobby. It is a way to look back on wonderful memories of your life as a couple, something you'd love to cherish every once in a while.

Teenagers are in the time of their life where transition from childhood to adulthood occurs. Despite the challenges and difficulties, this is a very exciting phase. From our first real crush to first dance in a prom, all these wonderful memories can be documented using a scrapbook. Here are some tips and ideas:
Designing your scrapbook
When designing your scrapbook, remember that it should represent your personality. It should be personal. Like a diary, it should best describe you and what's been going on in your life. Be sure to add some personal touch by making small notes about the events or any of the pictures you include in the scrapbook. You can make a journal out of it, or simply make it a photo diary, wherein each picture leads to some of the memorable events in your life. Remember that scrapbooking is all about you. Don't be afraid to experiment and try new designs that you think fits the theme of your photo diary.
Photos and notes to include in your scrapbook
There are a lot of photos you can include in your scrapbook, but for teens, among the most memorable are their prom nights, club and sports activities, parties with friends, and their old looks, from chubby cheeks to highly defined cheek bones when they blossomed into turning 18. To add some personal touch, it's best to make small notes about the pictures to describe the event or share any personal thoughts you have. The notes can be placed under each picture, or you can have a separate page for your mini-journal.
Scrapbooking for teens is a healthy activity. It helps them express themselves and their creativity. A scrapbook holds all the memorable events in our lives.

For those looking for a relatively cheap and convenient hobby, scrapbooking is a great activity you can try. Here is an idea to get you started:
Creating a journal for your scrapbook
Instead of buying the usual, commercialized diaries, why not create a unique one for you by making it into a journal scrapbook? Find photos, stickers, or magazine cutouts you can use as visual complements to your written entries. You can even use a theme that’s based on your personality to come up with scrapbook decorations. Your scrapbook journal could also be event-based. If you’re pregnant, for example, you can make monthly entries on the progress of your pregnancy and all the experiences that you’ve gone through so far. If you’re on a trip, use it to compile your travel tales and experiences in an exciting, foreign land.
Scrapbook photos and designs to use
Your scrapbook’s photos and designs should be cohesive—put too much color and décor, and your scrapbook might end up looking too congested. On the other hand, a dull, lifeless journal will just make it look plain boring. Think of a theme or a color scheme that you will use for the whole scrapbook. You can make your own frames from scrap material lying around the house, or you can buy different scrapping paper at the nearest craft store. Take into consideration the size of your scrapbook when choosing photos.
Using a journal for your scrapbook is a great way to put a new twist into the usual diary. It also adds more fun into documenting those memories.

Cutouts from patterned papers offer a more unique touch when decorating your scrapbook. Your kids will surely love to draw stencils and shapes on patterned papers, and cut these shapes out to decorate the borders of each scrapbook page.
Scrapbook designing tip 3: Use a cardstock for writing down your quotes or journal.
A cardstock is usually used for scrapbooking because of its thicker material and availability in almost all sorts of colors. Instead of writing down or printing your quotes on a regular bond paper, use colorful cardstock and match them with the overall theme of the scrapbook.

When it comes to scrapbooking, there are no strict rules. However, there are scrapbooking mistakes you have to avoid. These scrapbooking no-nos make your collection of photos and memorabilia less effective in documenting precious memories. To guide you, here are some scrapbooking no-nos:
Scrapbook tip 1: No personal writing on the page
A scrapbook without personal writings loses its originality. It's alright to copy and paste popular quotes or song lyrics but they do make your scrapbook less original. To personalize your scrapbook, create personal writings for some of the pages.
Scrapbook tip 2: Cluttered images
A scrapbook should always look presentable and coherent. This means the images should be carefully selected and artfully pasted into the pages, along with the corresponding text and personal quotes. A cluttered scrapbook defeats its purpose of serving as a beautiful reminder of happy memories.
Scrapbook tip 3: Sloppy cut and pastes
When cutting and pasting images and text materials into the scrapbook, make sure to use the right tools to achieve the effect you wish to accomplish. When dealing with photo paper, it's best to use double-sided tape instead of regular glue because using glue will make your photo paper wrinkle.
Your scrapbook is your collection of photos and memorabilia that signify happy memories. To make sure your scrapbook will always look presentable, keep the abovementioned tips in mind.

Scrapbooking tip 2: Make a journal of the event or memory.
An important aspect of a scrapbook is the written descriptions. When writing a journal for your decorative album, you can simply include a string of words that describe the event or the photo. You can also write a personal narrative that describes the actual events shown in the photos and memorabilia.

I am very serious when it comes to designing my scrapbooks and journals. Also, I usually include all my favorite sayings and quotations in my journal. In fact, I have some journals that contain sayings and quotations I have collected from all the good and inspiring movies I saw and interesting books I have read. It has become a habit for me to highlight sayings that have great impact on me.
Sunday, May 6. 2007
Of course, the quotes that you should incorporate in your scrapbooks should go with the themes of your journals. You see, its nonsense to put sayings and quotations that do not go with your specific journal themes. If your journal is for someone special, try to include sayings and quotations that best remind you of that person. That person would surely have loads of fun reading all the sweet and inspirational sayings you have incorporated in the scrapbook

Aside from the creative photo design technique of your journals or scrapbooks, it is also a cool trick to add inspirational and encouraging sayings and quotations to go with your scrapbook design tasks. Among my favorite sayings is “Do not cry over spilled milk.? The saying is what I always try to keep in mind, especially during the trying days of my life. There is really no point in dwelling a lot of time in some things you cannot control, so it is best to let things be and go on with life.

A scrapbook has only one purpose, and that's to immortalize the memories held by the person who owns it. Thus, an appropriate term for it would be a scrapbook of memories. So what comes into your mind when the phrase "happiest childhood memories" pops up? Of course it would have to be the birthday celebrations you've had for the first few years of your life. With this idea being rather too late for comfort, you should make one for your kids. Here's one tip: journal those wish lists your kids make during their birthdays. Yes, and include them on their birthday scrapbooks!

Wish lists, especially those made during birthdays, could very well knock your head upside with a wave of memories both bitter and sweet. If you're viewing it after two to three decades since you made them, that is. Yes, and what better way to remember fondly what were your wildest dreams as a child than have a scrapbook which has a portion dedicated to your wish lists. But if you're too old to find a wish list that you made even on your last birthday, you should make one for your kids.

A scrapbook for kids would probably be a better version than an adult's. You see, scrapbooks should contain your fondest memories. So which are you're fondest memories: the ones you've made during your childhood years, or those that you have made while you were too damn busy to even notice your life? I think that's relatively true, you know, with the advent of modern mobile solutions and all. With this, you should make a birthday scrapbook that has a portion dedicated to the wish lists that they have made. I think it would be one of their most treasured possessions when they grow old like you.

An actual grease pencil for a scrapbooking enthusiast is what a cocked shotgun is like to Kurt Cobain and the great Ernest Hemingway: a dead-serious answer for all your woes. This is because much like the Hemingway solution, using your handy grease pencils in delicately shaping and designing your scrapbook of memories would leave you a life of beauty. After all, a life of beauty is what should always be remembered in viewing someone's scrapbook of memories. With this tool, using stencils and templates for your scrapbooking ventures are given new dimensions.
Sunday, April 29. 2007
Templates are used, specifically for scrapbooking ventures, so as to design rather elegantly the pages on a scrapbook. These templates are usually made out of plastic translucent sheets, and are used to help in shaping photos on a scrapbook's pages. With a template and a handy grease pencil, chances are, you'll end up with a beautifully designed scrapbook full of elegant photo edges or borders. Plus, with an actual grease pencil, stencils could also be used to shape those photos on the pages of your scrapbook.
Saturday, April 28. 2007
Stencils, too, are used so as to make elegant and accurate markings on the actual edges of every photo on pages of your scrapbook. But in using any other marker with acidic ink, you are likely to end up with damaged photos than beautifully designed photo borders. With this, it would be wise to use grease pencils. These pencils do not have any acidic content, nor are they destructive in any way to the photos on the pages of your scrapbook. With just enough creativity, you'll end up in absolutely no time at all with elegantly marked photo borders or edges. Yes, even better than using a good photo editor that costs about a hundred grease pencils.
Friday, April 27. 2007
Most people use a good photo editor to do some work on their scrapbooks. But, if you usually have the time to manually do some editing on your scrapbook, labeling the photos on the pages of your scrapbook with the necessary information is a good thing to do. This is because the necessary information, such as dates and names, could help you actually remember those moments in your life. But don't use felt-tip pens, for it would damage the photos on the pages of your scrapbook due to the ink's highly acidic property.
Thursday, April 26. 2007
Using pens with acidic ink could literally burn the photos on the pages of your scrapbook. Such pens with highly acidic ink are felt-tip pens. It would be better to use Stabilo markers. This is because these markers don't have any acidic ink content. Plus, these markers usually come in different colors, thus it would provide you with enough room for creativity. After all, designing the photos on the pages of your scrapbook with text markings could do wonders on the total design and layout of your scrapbook.
