If you are just starting out on making your scrapbooks, you have to make sure that you follow the basic rules. It is always important to make an organized scrapbook photo collection, first. Then, you can just choose your colorful backgrounds. So that, everything else would have a theme. That way, you would be able to master the techniques in your following scrapbook activities. You would know what to put in, and what not to put in.
I am so sure that you would be using a "patterned paper" for your scrapbook pages. So, to make your wonderfully colorful photographs recognizable, you have to mat them. The photos should be the center of the page. The designs are just, well, designs. But, the most important thing in your scrapbook is the photos.
To mat your photos, all you have to do is cut out a solid-colored paper. You glue your photo onto the paper. Make sure that there's a margin that would really separate the background design of your scrapbook page, from your photo, itself. The photo mat would also make an instant frame design to your photographs. If you want colorful and varied mats, use different colored papers for each photo. But, if you want them on a uniformed color, just use one. The most important thing is to bring out your photographs and make them stand out.

Did you know that the sun can be harmful to your family history materials? Although the human naked eyes cannot see the UV radiation from the sunlight, we all know how dangerous it can be to our eyes, skin, and yes, to our scrapbooks and similar materials. Sounds absurd, but it is true.
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can damage valuable materials like flower garden-inspired scrapbooks, albums, and the likes. The UV rays may speed up the fading of color inks and dyes that adorn such materials. In addition, UV rays may accelerate the yellowing of such materials even though they are kept indoors. As such these materials look terrible and most likely you do not like to reminisce your past contained in these materials.
To put an end to such kinds of predicaments, you have to lower the duration of exposure. Never leave your scrapbooks open all the time. It is a good idea to take away and store photos on display for quite sometimes. Avoid placing photos than can be directly reached by sunlight. Protect your scrapbook using spray like Paper Bright just as you use sun block lotion on the skin.

Every time I make my scrapbook, no matter what the theme was, I can never get the right color effects that I want. I collect and buy all the materials that I want. I aimlessly do my daily internet browsing just to find the materials that I want. Of course, I am still pleased with the outcome of every scrapbook that I make. But, there's always something missing with its color effects and it's not lively enough as I want it to be.
It's a good thing that I came upon this hard-textured paper that is colored black. It was pure black, it had no designs, and it was perfect. I suddenly thought that this was it. I know how to make my creativity stand out. Use a carbon black paper. You can use any paper, as long as it's black and it's hard enough to hold all the materials that you would put in your scrapbook. A black background is always best in everything, so, why not apply this technique on scrapbooking? Black goes with basic colors, pastel colors, and neutral colors.
I also like the hardness of the paper which makes the page design more prominent and outstanding. I tell you, once I started to use black paper for my scrapbooks, I loved the results. Everything would just stand out when you use black as your background. The photo images suddenly become more alive. So, if you have not yet tried a black paper, try it now and see the difference.

If you are not exactly the type of person who has the luxury of time to spend on making things personalized, then you have to shell out money for someone to do the decorative work for you. This may not necessarily mean that you pay someone to carry out what you want. It could also mean that the things you want could be bought already online or in stores.
Paper for scrapbooks may be considered to be in the same way. While others are content on redesigning some of their idle papers for scrapbook use, other paper materials are being manufactured and sold specifically for purposes like album making. Vellum papers and translucent sheets are examples of these products.
The good thing about vellum papers and translucents is that they are available in solid or embossed varieties. These papers are also made in large sizes or moderate cuts to fit your scrapbooking needs. Vellum papers actually originate in India and they are quite expensive since they are sold per piece. However, if you really want to give your album an exotic and luxurious look, you can buy these papers which are usually embossed in white and gold designs.

Want that unique touch to your scrapbook paper? Designing scrapbook pages takes expert skills, and an awfully long time to finish, of course, it's always fun, but there are other ways to make it easier but equally colorful and attractive. I highly recommend hand-made scrapbook paper, there are so many designs to choose from, and they're acid-free. There are unique prints and papers coming from Thailand, China and Japan. The handmade papers are worth every penny, believe me, they're utterly one-of-a-kind!
